\nIt\u2019s been one month since the fourth edition of our TeTra conference, and it\u2019s now time to sum it up and give a brief account of the day (some pictures and participant\u00a0comments\u00a0here<\/a>).<\/p>\n

This 2016 edition was built around the core theme of innovation<\/strong> in computer-assisted translation, technologies for speech recognition, and machine translation.<\/p>\n

Early in the morning, we hosted four workshops<\/strong> in parallel. Prof. Hendrik Kockaert<\/strong><\/a> presented a promising CAT tool for translation and real-time feedback and revision, enabling users to build up \u201ca revision memory\u201d and work in “track changes” mode. Annalisa De Petra<\/strong> and Daniele Cocozza<\/strong><\/a> presented MateCat, an open-source and cloud-based CAT tool that integrates MT with one of the largest collaborative translation memory. Luca Menozzi<\/strong><\/a> showed the full potential of a brand-new SDL version, where users can download numerous applications from the SDL OpenExchange and plug them into Studio directly. Finally, Federico Gaspari<\/strong><\/a> held a practical session on how to speed-up and improve MT post-editing.<\/p>\n

The conference <\/strong>opened with the greetings of our\u00a0institutional representatives, followed by\u00a0an inspiring talk by Frieda Steurs<\/strong> [read more<\/a>]. In line with the very purpose of TeTra – i.e., to translate research into practice\u00a0– Arantza Del Pozo<\/strong> [read more<\/a>] then gave\u00a0an exhaustive\u00a0presentation on speech recognition and Machine Translation for multilingual automatic subtitling.\u00a0The final\u00a0speech of the day, by\u00a0Lucia Specia<\/strong> [read more<\/a>],\u00a0designed the roadmap\u00a0for current and future developments\u00a0in Machine Translation.<\/p>\n

Participants enjoyed the\u00a0“Coffee and Demo”<\/strong> session very much (and not only for the coffee and cakes). As our pictures<\/a>\u00a0show, the\u00a0companies that joined us (Apertium, IntelliWebSearch, Interprefy, MateCat, SDL, TranslationQ\/RevisionQ and Voiceboxer) were\u00a0quite busy demoing\u00a0their newest tools and systems. Our\u00a0thanks go to SDL for sponsoring this session, which will definitely be replicated in future editions!<\/p>\n
